Making the Most of Summer

Summer is always a time for reflection, relaxation, and work. Even though I’ve already had summer vacation for a month, I feel as if I have not done as much as I wanted to. I went to a coding program for a few weeks, but I now want to work on improving my skills and navigating potential career paths.

I really want to make the most of this summer-figure out future plans, learn about myself, and enjoy time with friends and family.

Summer is when you have so much time in your hands that you don’t really know what do with all of it. I want to learn as much as I can about myself, my ambitions, and where I see myself in the next few years. There are so many internships to apply for, programs to attend, and blog posts to write-all things I want to accomplish over the summer.

Looking through social media on a daily basis, it’s so easy to get caught up in what everyone is doing. The cool internships, travels abroad, and working life posts make me envious of each person that seems to have their life together and a path they want to pursue. I’m constantly influenced by what everyone is doing-if she’s doing a sales internship, I start searching for sales internships even though I’m not interested in that field. At all. I’ve been trying to read more and learn more about career options so I’m not distracted by what my peers and friends are doing. It’s important to not lock yourself down, but it’s also important to not be constantly swayed by other people in your life.

While this may have not been the summer I had originally planned, it has been a memorable one so far. From celebrating my friends and family, getting ready for two big travels, and learning cool new things, I’m trying to make the most of it. Being able to spend time with family and friends, learn more about business and where I want to go with this career path, working on my personal passion project i.e. this blog, I’ve been able to grow creatively and as a student. These next two months have a lot more family and friends time and traveling within them, which I am beyond excited for!!
